The Green European Foundation organised this seminar on the impact of TTIP in the framework of the European Green Party Convention held in Brussels, 22nd and 23rd February 2014. Martin Koehler, International Trade advisor for the Greens-EFA Group in the European Parliament, and Cécile Toubeau, policy officer at the Brussels-based NGO Transport & Environment, were the invited speakers.
During this seminar the speakers introduced the history of the EU trade policy and analysed the different impacts that the TTIP will have to the EU citizens. Also, they introduced the lack of transparency of the decision-making process between the EU and the US government. Finally, the five most controversial policy areas of the TTIP were introduced and it was explained the probable impacts in this areas: data protection, financial regulation, labour rights, food and agriculture and environmental protection.
